Meet Kathleen Buckley, finding contentment in everyday life, and helping others to do the same.

Kathleen Buckley doesn’t have a high powered job, she isn’t the dynamic leader of an organisation, she isn’t a gifted artist or doing the music scene. Who Kathleen is, is a wife, mother and co-creator of “Be Yourself”.

Kathleen’s life revolves around caring for her family, friends and the strangers that choose to do the workshops and retreats lead by her husband Kean. While Kean presents and adds the substance to their life changing events, Kathleen holds the space and creates the silence and support to allow participants to evolve at their own pace and time.

Part of this ability to allow and be completely secure in her role as nurturer and supporter is Kathleen’s love and respect for Kean and the work they do together. She feels that what they are offering to people are the skills and knowledge to create in their lives the type of relationship and awareness that Kean and herself are exploring and evolving.

Spirituality has placed a large part in Kathleen’s life. Her first big ‘ah ha’ moment happened in first year high school science class, when the class was told they would be studying the theory of evolution. The teacher stressed the point that it was a theory, as there was also the theory of creation, which was considered equally as valid. Up until that point, Kathleen had happily seen the world as a logical, black and white, right and wrong place. Everything had a place and an answer….sometimes complex but always conclusive. She sat and sat there in that science class, waiting for understanding to come. Nothing clicked. Her head was empty. And after a few minutes, everything had changed. She became aware that she was missing something, something that seemed to be a memory, just out of grasp. She knew she would recognise what it was when she felt it, and from that moment the underlying themes of her days were searching, sifting, questioning, wondering.

The next fifteen years was spent searching for that memory…..Kathleen found that by bringing focus and awareness to the task at hand, she would move closer and closer to what she was looking for.

Kathleen adores being a wife and mother, for the expansiveness, chances to grow and change, and for the chance to open herself to embrace differences. Family stretches and grows us, and the dynamic of a large family (and also a blended family) can be seen as a challenge or a gift for massive growth.

Yoga played a large part in her journey, for the calming, energising and balancing effects it has, and also for the fantastic chance to reflect on life in the moment. A yoga class provides a polaroid of where a person is at, broadly with balance, flexibility and strength, and then with regular practice, on an incredible number of subtle levels.

In her 29th year, Kathleen found what she had been looking for, the ‘flow’ that was inside her all along, just buried. And once the flow is consciously realised, it can never be denied or questioned again. So her life dramatically changed again, and now she works in a dynamic flow with her husband Kean to inspire people to open to their own inner selves and improve their quality of life, sometimes radically.

Kathleen is proof that a life that appears ordinary when judged by the standards of our culture can be rich and powerful, brimming with meaning and passion, and she insists that with a nudge in the right direction, anyone can achieve this kind of lasting peace.
