• Designing new brands
• Updating and refreshing existing brands
• Implementing strategies to gain brand consistency across everything an organisation does.
• Design and print of professional marketing materials (brochures, stationery, reports, newsletters, magazines, signage and packaging)

| What three things do enjoy about your business?
Having the opportunity to work with a diverse range of businesses and tailoring creative strategies to help them build their business’ brand awareness. Being on the sunshine coast a vast majority of businesses are small business, who have built a community of like-minded people willing to work together to succeed. This community spirit is the best part of working in my business and on the sunshine coast.
Adapting a client’s ideas into effective communication materials that represent their message, giving the client branding materials they are proud of. When I create positive energy around a business’ collateral, it translates (via non–verbal message) a professional, competent and enthusiastic brand.
Working from our purpose built office at our home gives me the freedom and flexibility to balance home life and business life. My partner and my two young children are my driving force and without them and the time to be with them I would not feel I was being true to them or myself.

| |
| What has been your greatest challenge in your business?
My greatest challenges are also the reason why I love my job. Graphic design, especially in this age of new media, is a field that is constantly changing and morphing. It is essential to make improving my graphic design skills a daily part of life.
Other challenges are working with my partner and raising two gorgeous kids, which offer so much reward.
|
| |
| What supports you in doing your business well?
Listening to client’s needs and a willingness to understand what they want from their business. Being true to myself. Living on the sunshine coast, and my family. Constant self-education is essential for me, I need to feel confident that I am able to offer clients the most up to date expertise and service possible. It is also important for me to maintain my fitness, I truly believe that a sound body creates a sound mind, which in turn will lead to sound decisions. |
| |
| How did you get started?
It was never a conscious decision to work in Marketing and Design. Opportunities came my way and it felt right to take them. I feel privileged to have found myself on this path, which began with two high profile marketing roles. After several years of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life and working in administrative roles, which did not offer any inspiration, I was promoted to marketing coordinator of a recruitment agency. The next step saw me attain a marketing role with Birch Carroll and Coyle, (prior to being taken over by greater union). Then I was offered an opportunity with the Royal National Association, which encompassed the marketing, promotions and entertainment of the Ekka.
I have a bachelor of Creative industries majoring in media and communication from QUT, completing the degree part-time while having my family. This proved more challenging then I had ever anticipated and became a huge learning period of my life, as most mothers can attest to I am sure. After the birth of my second child, I found myself a single mum with two children, and a uni student, a situation I never thought I would be in, but has lead me to a place which is more amazing then I could have ever imagined. I am so grateful for what those previous challenges have taught me.

| |
| Who/what has been an influence / inspiration?
After my second child was born I had the honour of becoming friends with a lady who showed me the amazing opportunities available to those who are aware and attune to a more spiritual self. She led me on a journey, (which occurred at the most perfect time), through the highs and lows of my life, helping me to move through what was happening around me at the time and using it as a learning. I thank her and she continues to influence and inspire me. |
| |
| What part of your spirit adds to your business? I believe that my business gives me the opportunity to work with my spirit wholly, everyday I have a new adventure with new challenges which if I did not allow my spirit to guide me, it would not be possible to achieve the success I have. |
| |
| What piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Graphic designers who are well-read, who are interested in current affairs, and who have a broad liberal arts education and experience in marketing and business management will experience the highest levels of success in this field in the future.
