Featured Artist Question and Answers: |
| How long have you been involved in painting? I have been a professional visual artist since 2000 after moving from France to Australia. |
| |
| How have you developed your skill in this area?
I always loved painting and drawing. Art was one of my favourite subjects. I chose to study fashion design in Paris and launched my own label and after a while I created a PR company. I enjoy studying and learning new skills and I never miss an opportunity to do so. |
| |
| |
| Who or what has been a major inspiration/influence in painting? Many artists have been and are still an inspiration: Marc Rothko, Willem De Kooning , Paul Klee, Matisse and more recently Zao Wou-Ki. The turning point was for me a trip to Africa where I was so overwhelmed by the landscape I felt I needed to paint to give back all these impressions.
|
| |
| What do you hope to give with your art?
I hope sharing my emotions, my energy, my love for colour, sometime a moment of stillness and peace. |
| |
| What do you get from your art?
I get so much! A sense of accomplishment, a joy, the pleasure to share, painting is for me an active form of meditation., my way of connecting to the universe. |
| |
| What has been your greatest moment with your painting?
Difficult to choose only one, my first exhibition back in Paris last June was a great moment, so many friends turned up I couldn’t believe it. I remember too, at the beginning of my career selling 3 paintings to a couple from Sydney, they left so happy that they were dancing on the street! It was such a nice feeling to be the cause of their joy. |
| |
| Where would you like to take your art?
Always further! I always give myself new goals, learning a new technique, showing in a new country…always something to push me. |
| |
| What would you say to someone who is interested in taking up painting?
Go ahead. You’ll never know if it is for you if you don’t try. |
| |
| What part of your spirit adds to your success as an artist? May be the ability to see, to feel and to express. |
| |
| Who do you know that is a ‘spirited’ woman?
I am very lucky, many of my friend are “spirited” women, larger than life, joyful, loving and making the best of each moment.. |
| |
| Is there anything else you would like to let us know about you?I have 2 beautiful and very “spirited” daughters and they will be showing in Noosa in March 2011 with me. I cannot wait! |
