Featured Artist Question and Answers: |
| How long have you been creating clay art? My earliest memories was when I was six, playing with mud pies at my parents dairy farm, my father bought me a wheel for my 23rd birthday, which reunited the passion, I have been professional potter for over 20years. |

| How have you developed your skill in this area?
I attended numerous pottery workshops where the desire to discover unusual and unique styles of firing the clay pieces, until I discovered Raku, I became hooked on the traditional Japanese style of Raku firings. I had found my niche as a potter |

| Who or what has been a major inspiration/influence in art? I take my inspiration from the wonders of nature, and the Australian wildlife that surrounds my property in the beautiful countryside of Maleny. Memories of the old barn on the farm filled with treasures, mostly rustic pieces and all the old relics of yesteryear fill me with inspiration I then reproduce in clay.

| What do you hope to give with your art?
It is my desire to inspire others to search for their creativity within, for it is inspiration that gives us energy to create and it is in creating that we transform our lives |

| What do you get from your art?
Peace, contentment and pleasure! My art has become a large part of my life, a gift within its self, to that I am forever grateful. |

| What has been your greatest moment with your ‘mudd creations’?
There are so many, the most rewarding is seeing my customers faces when they are holding their precious pieces, it gives me pleasure in knowing that my pottery makes people smile |

| Where would you like to take your art?
Travel! conducting workshops in Australia and overseas. I am forever discovering new ideas; I would also like to explore more on line work. |

| What would you say to someone who is interested in taking up clay work?
What have you been waiting for, its fun rewarding and sets your spirit on fire! It’s a life long journey of self discovery you’ll learn more about yourself that you ever thought possible. |

| What part of your spirit adds to your success as an artist? My child like spirit, the one who’s just having fun in the mud, who dreams big, gets so excited about the little things, who’s pottery pieces become friends…. |

| Who do you know that is a ‘spirited’ woman?
My mum, she is a strong independent woman and is the source of my encouragement, support and love |

| Is there anything else you would like to let us know about you?I am a divorced mother of 4 beautiful children; I have three sons, and a daughter. I work from my home in my gorgeous sandstone studio that sits beside my beautiful 125 yr Queenslander, I love what I do, from the whimsical to the sleek modern |
